Origin: China, Guang Dong
Tea colour: black tea
Dry leaves:
Aspect: large, perfectly twisted leaves.
Scents: highly fragrant with pronounced fruit (grape, muscat, mirabelle plum, peach), honey and floral (rose, geranium) notes.
Brewed leaves:
Aspect: perfectly preserved leaves.
Colours: coppery-brown.
Scents: very rich, incredibly complex. Floral (rose, geranium), pronounced honey, spice and fruit, before developing hints of wood, chocolate and stewed fruit.
Liquor:
Colour: a clear, gleaming liquor with an amber colour and orange glints.
Texture: very supple, thick and smooth in the mouth.
Flavour: sweet with a touch of acidity.
Aromas: pronounced floral fragrances to start (rose, geranium), a fruity bouquet with a good presence (exotic fruit, muscat, mirabelle plum, citrus, candied orange), hints of honey, wood (wax-polished wood) and plenty of roundness with the vanilla and cocoa notes and hints of coffee bean.
Aromatic profile and length in the mouth: a very good length with intense, complex qualities. Pronounced notes of honey, flowers, wood (wax-polished wood), cocoa, plenty of liquorice, and black fruit (blackcurrant, blueberry). A lovely lingering sweet flavour.
Our verdict:
A rich and complex tea - sublime. An explosion of notes (honey, floral, fruit, cocoa and woody) sustained by the body and lingering qualities of the liquor.
Throughout the year, our experts travel in the tea plantations looking for the best pluckings and new, rare, delicious teas.
The fact that we travel so extensively, that we taste and buy on location has many advantages and allows us to find rare crops by looking outside the traditional supplier circuit, to taste and to share with you the harvests of small plantations, which are often hidden away.
Visiting tea estates regularly and thereby establishing long-lasting relations with our suppliers allows us to guarantee regular quality control of the teas we buy, and to continue our mission: to bring you the best quality teas and to share our travels and experience with you, while concerning ourselves with environmental issues, working conditions on the estates and the fair trade practices to which we adhere.
