Quality
Origin: China, Guang Dong
Tea colour: Oolong
Dry leaves:
Aspect: lovely large, gently twisted leaves.
Colours: an intense dark green.
Scents: fruit, butter, milk, floral, sweet vanilla.
Brewed leaves:
Aspect: perfectly preserved leaves.
Colours: green.
Scents: very rich: butter and milk aromas in the attack, yellow fruit (apricot, peach skin), and livelier hints of zest, sweet vanilla and flowers (magnolia, frangipani).
Liquor:
Colour: a yellow liquor with green glints.
Texture: very supple in the mouth, thick and smooth.
Flavour: a touch of sweetness in the attack and a slight acidity that gives the aromas a freshness.
Aromas: a rich, sweet attack with butter, milk, cocoa and fruit aromas. Heavy notes to start (peach skin) becoming sweeter (yellow fruit, jam, syrup). A wonderful floral (white flowers) and exotic (magnolia, frangipani, tiare) bouquet.
Aromatic profile and length in the mouth: a good length with pronounced lively, fresh fruity notes (nectarine, peach, exotic fruit), a few vegetal accents (herbs, sage) and sweet vanilla. A very rich, full tea that is very long in the mouth.
Our verdict:
This is a very high quality Wu Long. A lovely plucking with a rich, sweet aromatic bouquet. The buttery, milky, floral and fruity notes are delicious and approachable. This is a wonderful sweet, round tea!
Throughout the year, our experts travel in the tea plantations looking for the best pluckings and new, rare, delicious teas.
The fact that we travel so extensively, that we taste and buy on location has many advantages and allows us to find rare crops by looking outside the traditional supplier circuit, to taste and to share with you the harvests of small plantations, which are often hidden away.
Visiting tea estates regularly and thereby establishing long-lasting relations with our suppliers allows us to guarantee regular quality control of the teas we buy, and to continue our mission: to bring you the best quality teas and to share our travels and experience with you, while concerning ourselves with environmental issues, working conditions on the estates and the fair trade practices to which we adhere.
