Origin: India, Darjeeling
Tea Estate: Thurbo
Dry leaves:
Aspect: large rolled leaves with downy buds.
Colour: dark brown with touches of copper.
Scents: woody, spicy, vanilla and candied citrus fruits, with underlying chocolate aromas.
Brewed leaves:
Scents: a touch of sweetness to start, then pronounced woody (wax-polished wood), vanilla notes, hints of citrus (orange), dried fruit and a powdery floral fragrance.
Liquor:
Colour: a clear, gleaming liquor with a coppery-brown colour.
Texture: a smooth texture, full in the mouth, with an oily feel.
Aromas: pronounced woody (wax-polished wood), honey, beeswax and fruit (dried fruit, grape, apricot, fig) notes with a subtle powdery floral fragrance.
Aromatic profile and length in the mouth: very round and full. The notes are expressed right from the start. Lingering woody, dried fruit notes.
Our verdict:
This is a lovely summer plucking with a supple, oily texture. We love the pronounced woody, honey and dried fruit notes (raisin, apricot, etc.).
Throughout the year, our experts travel in the tea plantations looking for the best pluckings and new, rare, delicious teas.
The fact that we travel so extensively, that we taste and buy on location has many advantages and allows us to find rare crops by looking outside the traditional supplier circuit, to taste and to share with you the harvests of small plantations, which are often hidden away.
Visiting tea estates regularly and thereby establishing long-lasting relations with our suppliers allows us to guarantee regular quality control of the teas we buy, and to continue our mission: to bring you the best quality teas and to share our travels and experience with you, while concerning ourselves with environmental issues, working conditions on the estates and the fair trade practices to which we adhere.
