Quality
Origin: Nepal
Tea colour: black tea
Dry leaves
Aspect: evenly rolled leaves with plenty of downy buds.
Colour: dark green with coppery highlights and the silvery tips of the buds.
Scents: fresh and sweet: vegetal and floral combined with toasted and stewed fruit notes.
Brewed leaves (infusion)
Scents: very delicate. Vegetal with hints of resin sustained by a sweet vanilla and rose-floral bouquet.
Liquor
Colour: a lovely orangey colour.
Texture: a supple attack, then a lingering astringency which gives this tea presence and length in the mouth.
Flavours: a sweet touch to start, followed by acidity which boosts the lively notes.
Aromas: a sweet, fruity attack (yellow fruit, mango), a sweet floral hint, then a marked herbal intensity in the middle and long notes.
Aromatic profile and length in the mouth: a lovely fresh, lively length with herbal notes (thyme).
Our verdict: A spring plucking from one of our favourite gardens in the region. Supple then astringent, it has a sweet fruity, floral attack, before the liquor becomes intensely fresh, revealing herbal notes.
Throughout the year, our experts travel in the tea plantations looking for the best pluckings and new, rare, delicious teas.
The fact that we travel so extensively, that we taste and buy on location has many advantages and allows us to find rare crops by looking outside the traditional supplier circuit, to taste and to share with you the harvests of small plantations, which are often hidden away.
Visiting tea estates regularly and thereby establishing long-lasting relations with our suppliers allows us to guarantee regular quality control of the teas we buy, and to continue our mission: to bring you the best quality teas and to share our travels and experience with you, while concerning ourselves with environmental issues, working conditions on the estates and the fair trade practices to which we adhere.
