TAMARYOKUCHA PREMIUM - ICHIBANCHA 2009
Origin: Japan, Shizuoka district Tea colour: green tea Length of infusion: 2’ Water temperature: 70°C
Dry leaves Aspect: leaves rolled into little comma shapes. Colour: intense green with glossy aspect. Scents: planty, fresh and fruity. Also fish, mint and herbal aromas. Brewed leaves (infusion) Colour: intense green. Scents: initially plant-based (cooked spinach) and iodine (salmon). A few fruity accents (blackcurrant and blueberry).
Liquor Texture: velvety and enveloping right from the start, sustaining the aromas well. Flavours: umami and sweet. Aromas: a rich bouquet from the start (oily fish, salmon) lingering over fresh plant notes (mint, sage) then more fruity tones. Aromatic profile and length in the mouth: a good combination of notes, texture and flavours, creating a wonderfully thick feel in the mouth, with plenty of roundness and very definite length.
Our verdict: this first plucking of Tamaryokucha, of remarkably high quality, presents all the characteristics of this tea family: very well-balanced marine-based and plant aromas, reinforced here by the fresh power of new season’s tea.
