Nature as a shared inspiration

Since 1986, our Tea House has traveled the globe to source extraordinary teas and share the richness of their origins. This endless quest for wonder deeply echoes Agathe Singer’s own philosophy. Working from her Parisian studio overlooking a lush garden, the artist draws her primary inspiration from the poetry of the natural world.

Well-known around the world for her unique, whimsical style, Agathe Singer has previously collaborated with prestigious brands like Fragonard, Alain Ducasse, Gucci Beauty, Fortnum & Mason, and publishing house 10/18. For our anniversary, she brings her signature brushstrokes to our world through a series of graphic creations.

Behind the scenes of a creative partnership

To bring this collection to life, our team worked hand-in-hand with Agathe Singer to capture the adventurous spirit of Palais des Thés. From initial sketches to the final, finely detailed artwork, the artist drew inspiration from the travelogues of our tea searchers to map out a truly extraordinary journey.

These conversations sparked the idea of a fantastical hot air balloon, the ultimate symbol of peaceful, contemplative exploration, soaring above and connecting our diverse tea lands. Each sip of tea has the power to transport us to a specific place or memory, a feeling the illustrator sought to capture in every curve of her artwork.

Telling the story through color and texture

While Agathe Singer has a deep appreciation for traditional printmaking techniques like screen printing and risograph, it was primarily through gouache paint that she brought our anniversary mural to life. Inspired by masters like Matisse and Henri Rousseau, color serves as a storytelling medium for the artist. By working with a rich, vibrant palette, she successfully captured the energy, joy, and serenity of our greatest travels.

Her compositions sweep us away aboard a vivid orange hot air balloon soaring against a bright blue sky, floating over sweeping colorful mountains, winding rivers, and lush tea gardens. You can almost feel the wind rustling through the trees, watch the tea leaves dance and trace the silhouettes of explorers gazing toward the horizon: a joyful homage to our 40th anniversary.
