Grand Yunnan Impérial is one of Palais des Thés' most popular single-estate teas. It is often popular with coffee drinkers due to its woody notes, and offers a handy replacement for your morning coffee, but can be enjoyed at any time of day.
The origins of Yunnan tea
Yunnan province, in south-east China, is sometimes considered to be the birthplace of tea due to its hot and humid climate, which offers the perfect conditions for growing tea plants. This region is home to prized black teas such as the Grand Yunnan Impérial, and even the renowned Pu Erh teas.
Today, Yunnan has become one of the largest black tea-producing regions in China.

This tea pairs perfectly with red meat: its notes blend well with the fragrances of roasted or grilled meat. The honeyed notes of Grand Yunnan Impérial also pair perfectly with intense dark chocolate, for a characterful pairing.

Suggestion of preparation
Preparation as hot tea
Take 8 g of tea leaves for 50 cl of water and heat to 90°C. Leave to infuse for 4 minutes.
Preparation as iced tea
Infuse 16 g of tea per litre of water at room temperature for 30 minutes. Remove the leaves and put in a cool place.

This is a superb tea to drink in the British way, with a little milk. 100 Centigrade and five minutes and you have a very tasty morning brew. Unique flavour which might take a little getting used to.
