Description

This Tamaryokucha Kamairi is made from Zairai tea plants. These are tea plants grown using seeds rather than cultivars, which is very rare in Japan. Zairai are renowned for producing powerful teas in comparison to teas made from cultivars. This tea is harvested in Takachiho, in the island of Kyūshū. It is produced by Mr. Kai.

The particularity of a Tamaryokucha Kamairi Cha is its high-temperature fixing: it is roasted instead of being autoclaved. The production method is more like the one used in China. Its matt, dark-green leaves differ from those of the Tamaryokucha Mushisei.

This Tamaryokucha Kamairi reveals subtle toasted notes bringing to mind roasted chestnuts, and which combine with vegetal and marine heart notes.

The Choice of Francois-Xavier Delmas

An unusual Tamaryokucha. It is made from tea plants than are grown from seeds, which is extremely rare in Japan, where plant cutting is generally used instead. This rare tea is gastronomically fascinating and is for true aficionados.
