This cup is decorated with plum blossom, or ume in Japanese. Plum trees are the first to bloom in the new year and are associated with the arrival of spring. Plum blossom is a symbol of beauty and renewal, making it a popular motif in Japan.
Ume, Kanoko, Asanoha : these three cups are decorated with traditional patterns often found on washi canisters. They are available in limited quantities. They are made by Mr Sahashi in the Sabashi workshop, renowned for its traditional and increasingly rare printing expertise. The designs are printed on thin, flexible paper, which is laid over the cup. The designs are transferred by pressure using a damp brush. They are available in limited quantities.
Not suitable for microwave use or dishwashers. It is best to wash the Ume cup by hand to avoid damaging it.
