Description
With the Gong Fu Cha method, a bodhi leaf can be placed on the fairness cup or drinking cup to strain the tea as it is poured from the teapot or gaiwan. It ensures the tea is free of particles. These leaves come from the sacred fig, a tree of significance in Buddhism because Shakyamuni Buddha was Awakened beneath it. A piece of bamboo inscribed with a few verses of a poem is attached to the base of each dried leaf. In Buddhism, they can be interpreted as meaning: “Awakening is within reach: a spark of Awakening is the whole of Awakening”. The bodhi leaves come in pairs, packaged in protective card. If looked after carefully, a bodhi leaf can be reused over several months.
